Mindfulness X – Beyond Nutrition

“You must gain balance within yourself before you can bring balance to the world.”

“MX” or Mindfulness X aka “Mindfulness…with every choice” is a conscious movement created by Earth Warrior X Founder Jürgen Anthony Riedelsheimer to bring more awareness to the connection between our daily food choices and how they impact our own personal health, animals, oceans, and the environment. Global warming is a term circulating the news for some time but not enough has been done to connect this detrimental environmental issue with our livestock food production and every facet it involves to continuing destroying our resources. Food and nutrition are emotional subjects reaching from culture, heritage, family memories and traditions, religion and infinite number of social events and gatherings where food is the glue and often times, the main reason for such events to take place.

For most people, long gone are days of hunting and gathering,  providing for your family with food and nourishment was the largest commitment of your daily life. We’ve evolved into a modern society, utilizing our industrial and technological innovations and progress to shift to the future of finding our individual creative fulfillment.

Even though this is an integral and important part of our evolution, it is very apparent that many of us have lost the connection between the origin of food and how it finally ends up on our plates. Many of us don’t grow our food anymore and a lot of us don’t even know how to cook, hence the requirement for us to lean on the food industries and restaurants to provide for us with easy and quick fix sustainability is on the raise.

Declining health, obesity, and alarming numbers in degenerative diseases are on the rise.  The depletion of our environmental resources is a problem which concerns all of us regardless how much we believe that our food choices we make should be only concerning ourselves. Research has shown and proven how our modern lifestyle choices from factory farming to our dependency on pharmaceutical medication for “health,” which is actually not health but what should be called “sick care,” has negatively impacted our overall health and awareness about ourselves, our environment, our future and future generations. “Mindfulness X” or “Mindfulness…with every choice” is not another “how to life approach” another diet or dietary recommendation but rather an invitation for all of us to reflect at least for one moment throughout the day while consuming a meal and trying to trace back what it took for this happen.

What logistic efforts had to take place, people or resources from the sun, water, soil to endless chain reactions of events for this miracle to manifest.
Sound too esoteric? Perhaps, but I believe that the only way we can invite change and improve our own personal health, prevent the environment from further destruction and furthermore stop the increasing number of extinction of animals and overall improve the way we treat all living creatures is by raising awareness and consciousness.

If we cannot reach this level of evolution, we will never stop how we mistreat our fellow human, brothers and sisters. The disconnection from the “oneness” of all is rooted in the way we treat all living creatures and the planet earth. I’m inviting you to give it a try to reflect consciously the next time you’re consuming your meal at least once a day. This is not a religion and is not an overwhelming task to ask to ask for. It doesn’t require you to change anything. You are not restricted to only partake in this experiment if you belong to a certain dietary group. Regardless whether you are living a Paleo, Vegan, fast-food and anything in-between and above lifestyle, you’re qualified to partake in this movement. This is your movement. A journey back of understanding what food and nourishment is all about.

An appreciation of the wonders of nature and how we have to reconnect with it in the 21st century and onwards. This is our planet, our future, the future of our children and next generations connecting with us and counting on us to be more conscious and aware of our every day choices.

“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”  ~Native American Proverb

What is Mindfulness?

mind·ful·ness

1. the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something. “their mindfulness of the wider cinematic tradition”

2. a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.

Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment. Mindfulness also involves acceptance, meaning that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them without believing, for instance, that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in a given moment. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future.

What is the philosophy behind the “X” in “MX” aka “Mindfulness X” movement?

“X” is the pivotal point of balance. The number “8” is the extension of “X.”

Since ancient times 8 has been known as the number of material abundance and worldly success. Yet to reap the benefits of 8 it is necessary to maintain exquisite balance between the material world and the spiritual world. — “As Above, So Below”.

In numerology, 8 is the symbol of abundance. When we turn the 8 on its side we have the infinity symbol. This is a reminder of the infinite abundance that is available to all of us. The two circles of the 8 represent balance between the spiritual world and the material world—the top circle being the spiritual world, and the bottom being the material world.

Like these two circles, everything is interconnected.  When we feel worthy of abundance on a spiritual level, we can attract it and manifest it on a physical level. Notice the fluidity of the number—it has a never-ending, continuous flow—this is the case in our world as well—there is no shortage in the universe—no lack. You can count the seeds in one apple, but you could never begin to count how many apples can come from a single seed! It is important to understand that when we take something from our environment we have to give something back to constantly maintain balance.

You plant the seeds for it to grow into food and for harvest. If we don’t replant or give back we won’t be able to harvest it again. The same applies to all things in life. Yes, there is technically and infinite abundance of resources, but we have inhibit that constant flow at this point due to the choices in our past.
